Just a few words to describe Lisa Mullarkey’s presentations at our library.
Lisa recently spoke on Reluctant Readers at our library. She had parents captivated from the beginning; several taking notes, many nodding in agreement at what she said, and others thumbing through the children’s books she put out for display. Lisa speaks from her experiences as a teacher, school librarian, Mom, and author. Her background has given her a distinct perspective on how to turn students on to literature and how to get reluctant readers to become eager readers. Lisa has seen unwilling readers in the school library where she worked. She discussed the struggle to get her own daughter to enjoy reading. Lisa offered bits of wisdom and advice on what parents can do to help their children with this problem. Her lively stories drew the listeners in. Her colorful display of books aroused everyone’s curiosity.
Lisa is friendly, enthusiastic, and down to earth. Parents and students can relate to her, laugh with her, and learn something all at the same time. As evidenced in both of her presentations at our library (one for parents and one for children), Lisa is an engaging and enthusiastic speaker. She speaks from what she knows best and loves. We hope to have Lisa Mullarkey return to our library for another great presentation.
