Lisa
Mullarkey recently visited the third graders at Cedar Hill School and the
event was a huge success. (January 2009) Right from the start, Lisa grabbed
the kids’ attention with a fabulous general assembly. The students learned
all about the ups and downs of publishing a book, different ways to come up
with ideas for stories and all about Lisa’s background.
Lisa then
spent time with each 3rd grade class. She had great ideas on how
to help the kids become better writers. She introduced WOW words and
stressed the importance of pre-writing and editing. Lisa spent time reading
each student’s story, offering feedback to help them better their writing.
The activities were done in a fun and exciting way that engaged all
the children. Every child felt like a great author after Lisa’s visit.
After her
visit with us, several parents called to comment on how much they heard
about Lisa at home. Many children were so inspired they continued writing
stories at home. I strongly recommend Lisa for a school visit.
