~WRITERS UNITE~

A portion of all proceeds from the sale of my books, as well as 10% from each school visit, will go toward helping fight Lou Gehrig's (ALS) Disease.  In 1998, my friend, Bruce Berman, died of Lou Gehrig's Disease at the age of 33.

Bruce passed way in November 1998

Note on June 3, 2006: For those of you who live in NJ and can get the latest edition of the popular magazine, Weird NJ, Bruce's tombstone is on the cover and there is an article about him inside.  It's believed that he is the first person to have a WWW address (it was an address relating to the disease) listed on a tombstone. I'm going to try to get permission to post the cover and article here soon.  (The magazine asked for, and was given, the consent of Carolyn.) Bruce would be thrilled to know he was in this quirky magazine.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord resulting in muscle weakness and atrophy. Every 90 minutes, an American dies of ALS. Time isn't on the side of those afflicted. The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is two to five years from the time of diagnosis. Lou Gehrig first brought attention to the disease in 1939 when he abruptly retired from baseball after being diagnosed with ALS. The disease usually strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70.  There are 30,000 Americans diagnosed and living with this disease.

HOW CAN YOU HELP???

Wouldn't it be great if we could wipe ALS, Cancer, MS, Leukemia, Parkinson's Disease, Diabetes, and every other disease off the face of the earth?  Not possible?  Sure, it is!  It will take time and mega bucks, but it can be done.  It will happen.  If you've surfed around my site, you know I'm donating part of my proceeds to ALS research.  How about you?  Come on, it's easy!  Make the commitment NOW to change the world and make it a healthier, happier place for future generations.

What disease has touched your life? Did you lose a partner? Friend? Teacher? Mom? Dad? Close family member?  You don't want anyone else to have to suffer that much again, do you? Here's your chance to help with the fight.  Donate a percentage of your proceeds to your cause.  It's that easy.  I know, I know...you need the money to pay bills. I understand.  I really do.  But, here's your opportunity to feel proactive, make a difference, and feel darn proud of yourself for finally joining the battle that you know so desperately needs warriors like you.

Are you in?  Drop me an email with a link to your webpage and I'll add you to the Writers Unite Hall of Fame.   Do it now.  If you join the fight, chances are your friends will join. If they join, then just maybe their friends will as well. Together, we can make a difference!

Spread the word and pass this link on to encourage
your friends to join the fight.
